FSUU Remains Debate Champion

Contingents from Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) won in the championship match of the 6th BCWD Parliamentary Debate, held on September 18, 2015 at Jesus Family Ministries in Butuan City with the motion, "This house believes that the local solution is preferable to the global solutions on how to mitigate the effects of El Nino to water supply." FSUU remains undefeated champion since the BCWD Parliamentary Debate started 6 years ago.

This year’s motion for the championship match deals with measures to adapt the effects of the El Niño phenomenon that we are now experiencing. According to PAGASA-DOST Advisory, the Strong El Niño will last until the first half of 2016. This means, there is a possibility that the water source of BCWD will run dry; hence, there is a need to conserve water. The BCWD has just formulated Action Plan, as per direction of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), to mitigate or adapt the effects of the long dry spell. The 6th Parliamentary Debate is included in the said Action Plan to get the thoughts and suggestions of the youth on water conservation in the wake of the Strong El Niño.
