BCWD ADVISORY (11/29/2024): UPDATES ON UPGRADING OF LINES
UPDATES ON BCWD’S UPGRADING OF LINES IN LOWER MANDACPAN, BRGY. SAN VICENTE AND BRGY. VILLA KANANGA
The Butuan City Water District (BCWD) is set to implement its project of Upgrading of Existing Pipelines at Lower Mandacpan, Brgy. San Vicente and at Brgy. Villa Kanaga, Butuan City. The schedule for implementation for the upgrading of lines was for the 4th quarter of 2024.
This upgrade improves water pressure and meets the higher water demand of the BCWD concessionaires in the said area. Replacing the undersized pipes is BCWD’s way of also future-proofing its distribution system to handle higher consumption.
The project involved upgrading the pipe system to replace decades-old pipelines in Purok 17, 18, and 19, Lower Mandacpan, Brgy. San Vicente and Purok 4, 6, and 7 Calot, Brgy. Villa Kanaga, Butuan City.
BCWD has already finished the bidding process for the materials for the implementation of the said project but unfortunately, no bidder passed the requirements. Thus, BCWD is set to schedule the rebidding for the materials for the implementation of the upgrading of the pipelines in Lower Mandacpan, Brgy. San Vicente and Brgy. Villa Kananga. This has caused the delay of the implementation of the said project.
The process of rebidding commenced on November 25, 2024. Thus, the implementation for the said project will be delayed. The Project’s new timeline for implementation is tentatively scheduled by March 1, 2025
Once the project of Upgrading of Existing Pipelines at Lower Mandacpan, Brgy. San Vicente and Brgy. Villa Kanaga will be completed, BCWD will be able to improve the water supply to its concessionaires in the affected areas.
BCWD aims to replace other “deteriorated pipelines” throughout its service area. It is part of its commitment in continuing to find ways to improve its services to its customers.
