BCWD Hosts 32nd Oratorical Contest

11 students vie for the top prize of BCWD’s 32nd Oratorical Contest

Eleven (11) eloquent junior high school speakers delivered their speeches highlighting the theme “Walk the Talk, Help Conserve Our Water Resources,” during the 32nd Oratorical Contest of the Butuan City Water District (BCWD) on October 17, 2019. Conducted at the BCWD Training Hall, this year’s annual gabfest were participated by Agusan Pequeño National High School, Ampayon National High School, Angelicum Montessori School, Inc., Butuan City School of Arts and Trades, Butuan City Colleges, Holy Child Colleges of Butuan, Kinamlutan National High School, Northeastern Mindanao Academy, Pigdaulan National High School, Precious Angels Learning Center of Caraga Inc., and Taligaman National High School.

Judging the said contest were three (3) individual considered experts in the public speaking arena. The following were the judges of the 32nd Local Oratorical Contest: Ms. Fe Dizon of the Department of Education Agusan del Norte, Ms. Rimonette Talan, still from the Department of Education Agusan del Norte and Dr. Marieta Lumawag of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

Emerging victorious beating 10 other contestants was the contestant from Agusan Pequeño National High School, Aldren B. Cocon, declared the champion for this year’s oratorical contest. Coming in close second was Rachel Ann V. Mintuda of Butuan City School of Arts and Trades while Keziah Callanta Catacata of Northeastern Mindanao Academy received the 3rd Prize award. Consolation Prize winners were Donna Jane Peteros of Ampayon National High School and Zhannie Sheen A. Barlisan of Precious Angels Learning Center of Caraga Inc.

The local oratorical contest is the oldest competition conducted by BCWD as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Program under the Water Education and Advocacy Projects.
