BCWD and ANECO sign MOA for Adopt-A-Forest Program

Butuan City Water District (BCWD) and Agusan del Norte Electric Cooperative (ANECO) Inc. signed, this morning at ANECO Multi-Purpose Hall, J.C. Aquino Blvd., Butuan City, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to jointly adopt one hectare in the Taguibo River Watershed for reforestation.

The MOA covers planting and three years maintenance of about 600 fruit-bearing tree and forest tree seedlings. The ceremonial planting of seedlings in the watershed was set to be conducted on August 30, 2019.

Adopt-A-Forest Program was designed by BCWD for individuals, institutions and organizations desiring to contribute in the rehabilitation of the watershed.

ANECO Inc. expressed its interest to participate in the Adopt-a-Forest program of BCWD for three major purposes. These include the following:

1. To help save the Taguibo Watershed;
2. to empower the upland settlers;
3. to strongly support the National Electrification Administration (NEA) Memorandum No. 2019-028, dated May 29, 2019, that enjoins all the electric cooperatives in the country to actively support the nationwide NEA-EC tree planting/nurturing and line clearing activities dubbed as “Golden Aim for Green.”

With this undertaking of the two agencies providing two of the basic needs of the people, the upland settlers who are also member-consumers of ANECO Inc. will greatly benefit from this project.
