ADVISORY (October 18, 2016 8:00 A.M.)

Early this morning, October 18, 2016, the Taguibo River Watershed Forest Reserve experienced heavy downpour causing the turbidity level of the Taguibo River to rise. At around 5:15 A.M., the Butuan City Water District (BCWD) temporarily suspended the operations at the source at Sitio Iyao, Barangay Anticala since the turbidity level of the Taguibo River reached 42.4 NTU. As of 8:00 A.M., the facilities are already partially operated with water pressure at Pump Station No. 1 already at 379.21 kPa (55psi).

Five (5) pumping stations are also operated to augment the supply of water in the City while the facilities at the source are stii in partial operation. However, the volume of water produced by the five (5) production wells cannot adequately supply the demand needed by the City. As such, the entire service area will still experience low water pressure while areas located at the end points of the system, especially those located in high places may be waterless.

For areas that still have water in their faucets, we urge our concessionaires to store water. However, we are advising concessionaires that have water in their faucets, not to drink the water directly from taps as a safety precaution. Concessionaires may use boiled tap water for drinking and cooking purposes.

Normal water pressure will be restored upon resumption of the full operation of the facilities at the water source.

We sincerely regret the inconvenience.
