ADVISORY (October 11, 2016 11:00 A.M.)

(October 11, 2016 11:00 A.M.)

Due to the recent occurrence of heavy rains at the Taguibo River Watershed Forest Reserve and high turbidity of the Taguibo River water source, the Butuan City Water District (BCWD) is advising concessionaires that have water in their faucets, not to drink the water directly from taps as a safety precaution. Concessionaires may use boiled tap water for drinking and cooking purposes.

This boil advisory was issued as a precaution in case turbid water made it into the distribution system after having slightly elevated levels of turbidity in the water source.

BCWD Laboratory personnel will take water samples from several sampling points in the system of BCWD to check water quality. The public will be notified when they will no longer need to boil their water after BCWD has ensured that no bacteria or contamination is present in the water.

As a precaution, BCWD is closely monitoring the water quality while waiting for the turbidity level of the Taguibo River to lower down to acceptable levels based from the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW) and until such time that the water pressure will normalize.

We sincerely regret the inconvenience.
