Couples for Christ adopts a forest in Taguibo Watershed

Members of the Couples for Christ (CFC) Butuan – Agusan Chapter adopted a forest in the Taguibo Watershed in partnership with Butuan City Water District (BCWD) through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the two entities signed on August 19, 2016 at the BCWD Board Room.

On August 29, 2016, CFC and some BCWD officers and employees jointly conducted the tree planting at Dugyaman, Anticala, Butuan City as part of the Adopt-A-Forest agreement between CFC and BCWD. CFC availed of the BCWD Adopt-a-Forest Program for the rehabilitation of the Taguibo Watershed by adopting one hectare area where the group shall have to plant and grow tugas, Narra and grafted fruit-bearing trees.

BCWD designed an Adopt-A-Forest Program for those individuals, institutions and organizations that would like to donate or provide funds for one or more hectares to be reforested in the Taguibo Watershed. BCWD Board of Directors approved the said program through Resolution No. 080-2013 dated June 17, 2013. Said program is worth Sixty-eight Thousand Pesos (Php 68,000.00) to Seventy Five Thousand Pesos (75,000.00) per hectare to be reforested in three years, including maintenance activities.

Adopt-A-Forest Program will make possible for everyone to proactively involve in the protection and preservation of our watershed by planting and growing trees and/or by just donating funds for the reforestation project. The Phoenix Petroleum Philippines through the Phoenix Philippines Foundation, Inc. as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributed fund for Five hectares and Atty. Jeremiah Asis & Family funded one hectare reforestation site.

CFC is an international Catholic lay ecclesial movement whose goal is to renew and strengthen Christian values. It is one of 122 International Associations of the Faithful. The organization is affiliated with the Vatican recognition from the Pontifical Council for the Laity.
