ADVISORY BCWD to Implement Mitigating Measures in Response to Water Supply Reduction (August 14, 2026 11:00 AM)

The Butuan City Water District (BCWD) informs the public of a reduction in water supply on August 15, 2026 at 12:00AM, due to the prevailing hydrological conditions in the Taguibo River, which have already affected its streamflow.
TASC has advised that it will reduce its water supply to BCWD from the usual 56.5 million liters per day (MLD) to 53 MLD effective August 15, 2026.
To address this situation and help sustain water service to its concessionaires, BCWD will implement several mitigating measures.

On August 15, 2026, 12:00AM, BCWD will energize Pump Station Nos. 1 and 14. These facilities are expected to provide an additional 4.68 MLD to the water supply. This initiative aims to cushion the impact of the anticipated reduction, particularly during periods of low streamflow from the Taguibo River.

With the operation of these pump stations, BCWD reminds its valued concessionaires, particularly those in the East Side areas, that temporary changes in water quality may occur, including slight to noticeable discoloration.
The operation of these pump stations is a temporary measure to augment water supply and will remain in place until the Taguibo River fully recovers from the effects of the prevailing dry weather conditions.

BCWD advises concessionaires:

These measures are intended to improve water availability in affected areas and minimize incidents of low water pressure or service interruptions, particularly during peak hours.
BCWD remains committed to pursuing both short- and long-term solutions to ensure a reliable, sustainable, and resilient water service for all its concessionaires.
BCWD will continue to provide daily updates through its official Facebook Page and website.
