ADVISORY BCWD Urges Consumers to Store Water in Preparation for Possible Effects of Dry Weather (As of April 17, 2026 12:00 PM)

On March 23, 2026, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) officially declared the onset of the warm and dry season, characterized by reduced rainfall and higher heat indices. These conditions are now being experienced in Butuan City.
In light of this development, the Butuan City Water District (BCWD) strongly urges all concessionaires to prepare for possible water supply challenges brought about by the summer season by storing water and practicing responsible water conservation.
While BCWD continues to work proactively to maintain reliable water service, increased demand and declining raw water levels require a preparedness-first approach.
BCWD advises all concessionaires with water available in their faucets to begin storing a one (1) to two (2)-day supply of water in clean, covered containers. Water should be used wisely to ensure there is sufficient supply for essential needs such as drinking, cooking, and sanitation. Consumers are also encouraged to maintain a rolling one (1) to two (2)-day water reserve daily while awaiting rainfall in the Taguibo River.
To help mitigate the effects of dry weather on the Taguibo River, BCWD has activated three (3) pump stations to augment supply from its bulk water provider and help ensure adequate distribution to all service areas.
