A 4-inch diameter pipe owned by the Butuan City Water District (BCWD) was damaged by personnel of a construction firm during drainage construction works along Villa Kananga Road, Barangay Villa Kananga, Butuan City, on January 7, 2026.
To allow the drainage construction to proceed, the constructors temporarily addressed the leak by wrapping the damaged portion of the pipe with a rubber interior tube.
On January 10, 2026, the BCWD Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Team inspected and verified the damaged pipe and subsequently endorsed the matter to the BCWD Repair Team for appropriate action. The Repair Team conducted the necessary repairs on the evening of January 13, 2026, completing the work at 1:20 a.m. on January 14, 2026. A 4-inch repair clamp—standard material used for repairing leaks in 4-inch pipes—was utilized to properly fix the damage.
BCWD encourages the public to help improve water service by promptly reporting any leaking pipes to the District.
