BCWD Participates in Abayan 2025 in Honor of Señora Santa Ana
In a show of unity, devotion, and cultural pride, the Butuan City Water District (BCWD) joined the grand celebration of Abayan 2025 on July 27, 2025, at the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) Grounds, Butuan City. The activity was spearheaded by the City Government of Butuan in honor of Señora Santa Ana, the beloved patroness of the Agusan River.
Representing BCWD were the General Manager and Department Heads who stood in solidarity with other local government units, national agencies, private organizations, and community groups to pay tribute to the patroness through a series of solemn and festive activities along the riverbanks.
The event officially commenced at 6:00 a.m. and unfolded in six key segments:
1. Holy Mass Honoring Señora Santa Ana – A Eucharistic celebration attended by city officials, religious leaders, and participating delegations.
2. Abayan Opening Ceremony – Marked by messages and Abayan history.
3. Festival of Talents – Featured cultural performances, songs, and dances highlighting Butuanon artistry and devotion.
4. Fluvial Procession – The traditional river parade of decorated boats carrying the image of Señora Santa Ana and representatives from various sectors, symbolizing faith and the lifeblood role of the Agusan River.
5. Announcement and Awarding – Recognitions were given to outstanding groups and performances that added color and meaning to the celebration.
6. Closing Ceremony – Culminated the event with expressions of gratitude and reaffirmation of commitment to preserving Butuan’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
BCWD’s active participation reflects its continued support for initiatives that uphold local traditions and reinforce communal bonds. As a vital agency in the city’s service landscape, BCWD recognizes the importance of honoring the river that has sustained the people of Butuan for generations.
