BCWD Joins Citywide Synchronized Clean-Up Drive for a Cleaner Butuan
In a demonstration of its unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility and civic engagement, the Butuan City Water District (BCWD) actively participated in the City Government’s citywide synchronized clean-up drive held on July 26, 2025. The activity was part of the broader campaign to promote cleanliness, discipline, and cooperation among various sectors of the community.
The clean-up drive, spearheaded by the City Government of Butuan, mobilized public and private organizations, barangay units, and local volunteers in a collective effort to rid streets and public spaces of litter and waste. With the theme of shared responsibility and unity in environmental action, the event underscored the city’s growing commitment to sustainable urban living.
BCWD was designated to cover the area stretching from T. Calo Extension to the corner of Ochoa Avenue, a vital zone in the heart of the city. Staff and personnel from various departments of BCWD came together as early as 6:00 AM, equipped with cleaning materials such as brooms, dustpans, rakes, clearing gloves, sacks for bulky debris, and trash bags.
To ensure efficiency and full coverage of the assigned area, participants were organized into teams. Each group took charge of specific segments of the route, enabling thorough cleaning and proper segregation of waste. Filled trash bags were placed at designated collection points for pick-up and disposal, following the city’s waste management protocols.
“This synchronized clean-up is not just about cleaning our streets. It’s about taking pride in our city and inspiring a culture of environmental mindfulness,” said a BCWD representative during the activity. “We are proud to be part of this meaningful initiative.”
The clean-up drive also served as a reminder of the vital role that local water districts play in protecting water sources and maintaining ecological balance. Beyond water provision, BCWD has long been involved in environmental campaigns and community-based initiatives promoting sustainability and public welfare.
By participating in the citywide clean-up, BCWD reaffirmed its role as a responsible public utility and active partner in building a cleaner, safer, and greener Butuan.
